Welcome to our website
Age-Friendly North Jersey is a growing alliance of activists and change-makers dedicated to making the communities where we live, work, and play better for longer, healthier, and more equitable lives. Our alliance supports age-friendly leaders who are doing the work of strengthening collaborations for meaningful and sustainable community impact. We are led by local philanthropies and the Rutgers School of Social Work, in collaboration with New Jersey Advocates for Aging Well. Our alliance includes leaders from age-friendly community initiatives in Bergen, Essex, Morris, Somerset, Passaic, and Union counties in New Jersey

What is an Age-Friendly Community?
Age-friendly communities promote independence and equity for aging residents by combatting ageism and upending the many political, social, and economic forces that can make it difficult or even impossible for older adults to age-in-place. Leaders focus on creating community partnerships to improve physical environments, increase housing options, promote transportation alternatives, strengthen social supports and foster intergenerational connections.
